Dan Berger included Fanucchi
Vineyards Trousseau Gris again "among some of the most exciting
wines of the year"! In the December 25, Napa Valley register
article:
The Orphan Wines "...I love the excitement you can
find in unusual varieties,.. always make my list of most
interesting wines. ...Orphans, like semillon, Trousseau Gris,
albariño, pinot blanc and barbera, need adopting.
Fanucchi Vineyards in the Russian River Valley makes a Trousseau
Gris each year that is fresh and fruity, a superb aperitif
wine." This article also appeared in New York Times' Press
Democrat on December 23rd.
Judit and Corina on Wine Dine TV (Online video) "...Inviting,
Peach Cobbler, Lively and relaxed, full of surprise and very
comforting, a very happy wine, 4.7 points..."

2005 Trousseau Gris
“99 Points” Just wine Points / Wine-X
“ Highly Recommended” “… finishing clean and balanced, An
intriguing varietal white
to serve with Thai green curry or squid salad with green papaya
and basil.” -Wine & Spirits
“4 Stars _ Exceptional!” “Pale gold color. The nose is
wonderfully complex offering aromas of wild flowers, honeydew
melon, grapefruit, and star fruit. The palate confirms the nose
being perfectly balanced with a refreshing dose of natural
acidity. Be sure to drink this wine at a cold temperature but
not too cold as this will mute its subtle flavors. A real find.”

“Top 16 Wines” In January 2008 this was one of the two Fanucchi
Vineyards wines -Just wine Points / Wine-X listed & then crowned
Peter Fanucchi “Best Veteran Winemaker!”

Trousseau Gris Historical
Acclaim
When Fanucchi started there was a bit of need to prove that
Trousseau Gris was a serious wine & many competitions were
entered & writers approached consequently every vintage has
garnered acclaim. In addition to the 99 points medals, & quotes
above; here are some highlights:
94 points from the Judges @ the California State Fair.
“Top 100 wines of the Year” - Wine & Spirits Rated it 3 times –
Always in their Highly Recommended /90s range and described it
as
“…consistently Excellent”
“…Today his Old-Vine Zinfandel as well as his Trousseau Gris, an
aromatic white, are highly sought after by those in the know.”
-Great Wines you can buy Online - Master Sommelier Catherine
Fallis
“Something pleasantly out of the norm, a crisp and zesty white
with aromas of toasted grain and nuts, spice and peach, with a
crisp yet slightly oily texture and a vibrant finish.”- Wine

Hundreds of Competition awards have been bestowed on Fanucchi
Vineyards Trousseau Gris & farther below is a list of trackers
who sum them up & ranked it at or among the top medal winners
but two of the most outstanding noted are:
Twice Fanucchi Vineyards Trousseau Gris won the
(silent) Unanimous 4 STAR GOLD at the prestigious Orange County
Fair Wine Competition –odds of a wine ever getting this award
are less than 1%! The Trousseau Gris did it 1997 & 2002! (A feat
no other single wine had ever done!) -The Orange County
Wine Competition organization came up to the Vineyard to present
that award in person!
Also in the California State Fair the Fanucchi Vineyards
Trousseau Gris has 5 times won “Best of Class of (Sonoma County)
Region”
When Fanucchi was entering most of the major competitions the
Trousseau Gris consistently ranked at or near the top of the
“Other White” category (often with” aromatic whites”).
..................
#1 Most Awarded “Other White” in the 9 CA wine competitions
tracked by “California Wine Winners 2002”
Top 1% in “California Grapevine’s” 2001 competition tracking
(and 6th against all whites which includes Pinot Gris & many “Rhone
Wines” like Viognier!)
It was 2nd Most Awarded “Other White” in 1999.
Truly the best critical acclaim is the many, many, thousands of
unwritten compliments from those who have been enjoying this
wine with friends & food since 1993!
