Trousseau Gris (Tr00-so Gree) Russian River Valley’s Fanucchi Wood Road Vineyard has the only block of this rare Grape in Sonoma County!

Typical Trousseau Gris Tasting Notes: Crisp, Clean, Flowery bouquet, FRESH PEACHES, honeysuckle, pear, melon & delicate spice and tropical fruit flavors make it a delightful compliment to a wide array of foods! Compare its “Nose” to Viognier or Marsane, with a gentler spice than a dry Gewürztraminer and far, far, more fruit than the best Pinot Gris could hope for! Not only dose cold, gentle handling preserve the fruit & it’s bouquet, but often retains some of it’s natural effervescence-CO2-which also keeps the wine a little fresher & can show more bubbles then most still wines.   www.fanucchivineyards.com

The TROUSSEAU GRIS grape was originally traced back to the Alsace–Lorraine in Northern France, near the German border & Its lineage is from another rare Alsatian grape: TROUSSEAU (red). I helped my father plant this now rare block of grapes in 1981 & have continued to preserve it since he died in 1984. We trellised this block uniquely, like a head pruned vine but on a single wire which has served well for quality & organic maintenance but I have started a project to convert it to a more modern & more open “Smart-Discon” Vertical trellis and replace the 23 year old arms.

Fanucchi Vineyards Trousseau Gris has Twice won rare (about 1% or less ever receive it) 4-Star-Gold in Orange County, often been #1 & top 5 most awarded Other White in the top 10+ Wine competitions (when we were entering them), 5 times  (and again with This one) Best of Class of Region @ the California State Fair & named “Consistently Excellent” by Wine & Spirits!
